FATAL CAR RAMMING NEAR Melbourne Showgrounds DURING COMIC EVENT; SUSPECT DETAINED


A fatal car ramming incident has occurred outside the Melbourne Showgrounds during a comic convention event, leaving one person dead and several others injured.

According to initial reports, a vehicle drove at speed into a crowd gathered near the venue, causing panic and multiple casualties. One person was pronounced dead at the scene, while another sustained life-threatening injuries and was transported to a nearby hospital. Authorities have indicated that additional injuries are possible.

Witnesses reported seeing the vehicle accelerate into pedestrians before attempting to flee the area. The suspect’s car reportedly stalled shortly after the incident, allowing bystanders to intervene and detain the individual until police arrived.

Law enforcement officers quickly responded to the scene and have taken a man into custody. He is expected to be questioned as part of the ongoing investigation.
