Mass Shooting in Kyiv Leaves Multiple Dead, Suspect Killed by Security Forces

A mass shooting incident in Kyiv, Ukraine’s capital, has left at least eight people dead and ten others injured, according to preliminary reports. Authorities have confirmed that the suspect was killed during a police operation.

The incident unfolded when the attacker, believed to be originally from Russia and recently residing in Kyiv, opened fire in a public area before barricading himself inside a store. During the standoff, the suspect reportedly took hostages and fired at responding officers, injuring at least one police officer.

Special forces from the KORD unit of the National Police carried out a tactical raid on the location where the attacker was hiding. The operation ended with the suspect being neutralized.

Emergency services responded quickly, transporting the injured to nearby hospitals. The exact condition of the victims has not yet been fully disclosed.

Authorities have secured the area and launched a full investigation into the incident, including the motive behind the attack and the background of the suspect.
