Andhra Pradesh — A rare and striking species known as the Peacock Tarantula (Poecilotheria metallica) is now the focus of a major conservation effort in the Eastern Ghats.

Under the leadership of Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu and Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan, the Forest Department has initiated a conservation status survey.
