Glasgow City Centre Locked Down After Reported Stabbing Near St Enoch Square

Police sealed off parts of Glasgow city centre on Sunday following reports of a serious assault near St Enoch Square.

According to authorities, officers responded to the incident at around 2:15 PM local time on 17 May. Emergency services quickly arrived at the scene, and one person was taken to hospital for treatment.

The area surrounding St Enoch Square was temporarily locked down as police launched an investigation into the incident. A nearby subway station was also closed while enquiries continued.

Officials stated that there is currently no believed wider risk to the public, but people have been advised to avoid the area as officers carry out investigations and gather evidence.

Videos and images shared online showed a large police presence in the city centre, with emergency vehicles and barriers surrounding parts of the square.

Police have not yet released further details regarding the victim, possible suspects, or the exact circumstances surrounding the reported stabbing.
