Prince George’s County Police Cruiser Struck While Responding to Adelphi Stabbing
A police cruiser from Prince George’s County Police Department was struck while officers were responding to a reported stabbing incident at a Wawa convenience store in Adelphi late Thursday night.
According to initial reports, police were dispatched to the Wawa located at 9100 Riggs Road shortly before 10:30 PM after receiving reports of a stabbing. When officers arrived at the scene, they discovered a male victim suffering from minor knife-related injuries. Authorities say the suspect or suspects fled the area before police arrived.
While responding to the emergency call, a police cruiser was involved in a collision on the 1800 block of Metzerott Road. Officials confirmed that the officer inside the vehicle was not injured during the crash.
Emergency medical personnel from Prince George’s County Fire & EMS responded to the collision scene and evaluated one individual for non-life-threatening injuries. No serious injuries were reported from the crash involving the police vehicle.
Authorities have not yet released details regarding what caused the cruiser collision or whether another vehicle was involved. Investigators are continuing to examine both the stabbing incident and the separate traffic crash connected to the police response.
Police also continue searching for the suspect or suspects involved in the stabbing at the Wawa location. The condition of the stabbing victim has not been reported as life-threatening.
