8 Killed, Over 50 Injured After Bus Crashes Into Truck in Côte d'Ivoire
NIAKARAMANDOUGOU, CoTE D'IVOIRE — At least eight people were killed and more than 50 others injured after a passenger bus collided with a heavy-machinery truck near the northern town of Niakaramandougou on Thursday.
According to local authorities, the bus was traveling toward Abidjan when it struck the truck. The impact caused the bus to overturn and plunge into a nearby ravine, resulting in multiple casualties and injuries.
Emergency responders rushed to the scene and transported the injured to nearby hospitals for treatment. Several victims were reported to be in serious condition.
Authorities have launched an investigation to determine the exact cause of the crash. Traffic accidents remain a significant concern on major highways across Côte d'Ivoire, with officials continuing efforts to improve road safety.
