3rd Alarm Fire Engulfs Townhomes in Five Points, Delaware; Possible Person Trapped
Five Points, New Castle County, Delaware: Firefighters battled a rapidly spreading three-alarm fire that tore through a row of townhomes on Clayton Road in Five Points, Delaware, prompting a massive emergency response and raising concerns that a person may have been trapped inside.
The fire was reported at 1528 Clayton Road, where heavy flames were observed on the Charlie (rear) side of a three-story middle-unit townhome. According to emergency dispatch reports, the blaze quickly spread through all floors of the structure before extending to neighboring homes on both sides.
As conditions worsened, incident commanders requested a third alarm, bringing additional fire companies and specialized equipment to the scene. Multiple hose lines were deployed as firefighters worked aggressively to contain the fast-moving fire and prevent it from spreading to additional homes.
Emergency radio traffic indicated that evacuation tones were sounded, requiring firefighters operating inside the buildings to withdraw because of deteriorating conditions and increasing safety risks. Thick smoke and intense flames made firefighting operations especially challenging.
Initial reports also indicated that a possible occupant may have been trapped inside one of the affected homes. As of the latest available information, authorities have not confirmed whether anyone was located or rescued, and no official casualty information has been released.
Residents in nearby homes were evacuated as a precaution while emergency crews continued to battle the blaze. Fire investigators are expected to examine the scene once the fire is fully extinguished to determine the cause of the incident.
Officials have urged the public to avoid the area to allow emergency vehicles and firefighters to operate safely. Additional updates are expected as authorities release more verified information.
